What is a profile statement

A profile statement or executive summary is one of the first things recruiters look at.  It is optional, so here we explain how it is used. Then you can make an informed choice as to whether you would like to include one.

Think about your personal profile as your compelling introduction or elevator pitch.  You get in the elevator with the CEO of a company that you really want to work for. She then asks you “why should I give you an interview?”  You then have a short window, usually, a maximum of a few minutes, to present a brief, but persuasive, reason.  A good elevator pitch will offer the CEO just enough information to spark her interest. Then, if done well, she is keen to learn more!

Write your profile thinking about how you can create this interest. It also needs to link your experience to the recruiter’s requirements.

By following the next steps, we will guide you through how to ensure that yours reaches the mark.
